Brown Eyes v Blue Eyes

This is a video of the Jane Elliot’s experiment in which children learnt about discrimination by being assigned “top dog” and “under dog” roles according to the colour of their eyes. The children developed their prejudices quickly, causing a great deal of distress for their peers in the process. It transpired that the status of the children had a great impact on their academic performance. By the end of the experiment the children had increased empathy for people experiencing discrimination and had bonded as a group as a result of the experience. A film of the experiment was played to offenders in prison and a couple of guys voice their opinions. Then the prison staff are shown attending a workshop with Jane Elliot where she gives them an experience none of them would ever forget!
